To celebrate International Women’s Day, we wanted to hail the success of women in property and celebrate role models amongst female property investors.
International Women’s Day is all about being bold for change in the way women are treated and perceived both socially and in the work place. Some of the women Mike has had the pleasure of interviewing over the years could run circles around any man in the world of property, never mind just being equal with them!
That’s why we decided to create this video and podcast to showcase some of their successes and really inspire the next generation of women in property by saying ‘not only is it possible for women to succeed in this industry, but they can thrive and lead without barriers’.
Celebrating Women in Property
Who Did We Speak To?
We picked 5 female property investors who all have amazing stories to tell about their own journey through the property world, and all advocate this industry as a phenomenal place for women to be involved.
Whether you’re looking for something to give you time to raise a family on your terms, or want to stand toe to toe with men and win through your own competitive strengths, these 5 women believe this is the place for you.
Nicole Bremner is the founder of East Eight and London Central Developments. She started investing in property after taking time off from her career in banking to raise her three children, and hasn’t looked back since.
Katrina Jones started Kendall Bailey to bring her boutique style to the world of rent to rent HMOs. With a background in sales and strong female role models behind her, this stood out as the ideal investment strategy for her future.
Jackie Tomes dreaded going back to work after a long holiday, and realised that by working with investors with money but no time, she could provide them with a service to invest in the property market. She went on to create Tomes Homes where she focuses on growing her portfolio of single let properties.
Liz Lanfear started investing in property 17 years ago and has continued to focus on shared living for young professional tenants ever since. Her company Property Angels stemmed from an idea she got after listening to Rich Dad, Poor Dad whilst travelling through Australia.
Emilia Newman is the founder of MyCitySpaces.com, providing serviced accommodation to corporate and leisure travellers. Despite wanting to follow in her mother’s footsteps, the cost of entry to property posed a major barrier until she discovered the options and potential of controlling property through rent to rent.
Thinking about your own career in property investment?
I wouldn’t be doing them justice to try and condense the advice from these 5 amazing women into a couple of lines, so start by watching the video or listening to the podcast.
